Built where ocean, food and infrastructure meet.
Building the North Atlantic's specialist platform for the blue economy.
Björg Capital invests and advises across the marine value chain, partnering with founders and institutions where operating depth decides outcomes.
Industrial know how, not financial engineering.
Outcomes in this sector are driven by licenses, biology, logistics and disciplined capital allocation. We create value the way operators do.
Aligned by construction.
We prefer partnership structures in which founders, investors and the firm succeed together, with governance that makes alignment enforceable.
Responsibility is performance.
Environmental performance, biological stability and economics move together. Every company Björg Capital invests in either operates to a credible sustainability standard already, or is put on a defined and measured path to one under our ownership.
Thirty years of operating, investing and advising in the blue economy.
Björg Capital's roots are in Iceland's coastal fishing communities, where its founder learned how value is created and protected across the seafood chain long before structuring a first transaction.

- 1996First Icelandic seafood company listed on the Iceland Stock Exchange
The platform's operating history begins in 1994, when founder Jóhann M. Ólafsson became CEO of Jökull hf, a small municipal fishing company in Raufarhöfn. Under his leadership it grew from 1,500 tonnes of quota into a consolidated platform and, in 1996, became the first Icelandic seafood company ever listed on the Iceland Stock Exchange. It was later acquired and became part of Samherji, Iceland's largest seafood group.

Viðskiptahúsið, The Trading House, followed in 1999: an advisory and brokerage firm focused on the blue economy, led by the founder for two decades. In 2019 it merged with Icelandic Securities, one of Iceland's largest privately held asset management platforms, managing approximately €1 billion across more than twenty regulated funds for pension funds, insurers and institutional clients, with the founder as CEO and principal shareholder.

Björg Capital is the continuation of that arc. The blue economy is entering an investable scale phase, and it needs specialist capital partners able to underwrite sector complexity, navigate regulation and support value creation at the asset level. Björg Capital was built for exactly that work.
Björg Capital is named after Björg ÞH76, the fishing boat of Jóhann's grandfather, from the coastal communities where this story begins.

Björg Capital operates through two complementary business lines. Advisory strengthens origination, diligence and structuring. Management provides active ownership, governance and long term portfolio support. Each makes the other sharper.
